Heat & Glo^® manufactures a wide range of fireplaces, gas fireplace inserts, gas stoves, gas logs and even fireplace mantels and surrounds. The company began in 1975 with two brothers tinkering around with fireplace designs in their garage and has become the world’s largest manufacturer of fireplaces.

Heat and Glo is known for their innovations—chief among them the direct vent gas fireplace, which made it possible to safely install a fireplace almost anywhere in a home. This innovation alone transformed the industry from primarily wood-burning fireplaces to gas-operated fireplaces.

Key Technologies

Direct Vent Technology

Heat & Glo’s Direct Vent fireplaces expel all of the fire’s combustion exhaust and fumes from your home to ensure the air quality inside is clean and safe. Sealed fireplaces incorporating this technology are 70% to 90% energy efficient and provide plenty of warmth. The flexibility of venting through a wall or a ceiling allows these fireplaces to be installed in almost any room.

FireBrick Technology

This energy-saving firebox technology looks like traditional brick, but is actually made from layered ceramic materials and produces as much as 25% more radiant heat than conventional metal fireboxes produce, as well as using less fuel and heating rooms faster. Heat & Glo uses their FireBrick technology in both gas fireplaces and inserts.

IntelliFire™ Ignition System

Heat & Glo’s IntelliFire™ Ignition System (IPI) is an intermittent pilot ignition system that constantly monitors ignition to ensure safety and to conserve energy. Savings of up to $10 per month in gas usage are typical. Heat & Glo also offers IntelliFire™ Plus, which offers more safety and memory settings along with a wireless remote control. Both versions have battery backup systems which can be used to light the pilot during a power outage—so you’ll have both light and heat.

Power Venting Technology

Power venting enables the installation of a gas fireplace almost anywhere in a home. By using slim venting with a fan-powered assist, venting can zigzag up, down, over or under just about anything on its way to an exterior wall or your roof. A steady exhaust flow ensures safe operation and beautiful, heat-producing flames in your fireplace.
